The Butler, is inspired by Wil Haygood’s Washington Post article about an African-American man who served as a butler (Forest Whitaker) to eight Presidents over thirty years. The Butler traces the dramatic changes that swept American society, from the civil rights movement to Vietnam and beyond, and how those changes affected this man’s life and family. There are literally 39 producers on the project and a named cast of 62 leading or supporting roles!!! So how much does he have to produce this epic drama? 17 million!!! I think only James Cameron had a bigger challenge with TITANIC, he had 54 leading and supporting roles and only 7 producers but a production budget of 200 million!!!
