Hood Life 101 is a short film project that takes a satirical look at the stereotypes of African American males living in an urban neighborhood. Using a group of Black Republicans who move into an urban neighborhood with great fear and anxiety about fitting into the milieu of homeboys and street thugs, they devise a plan to stage an event where they interact with people in the neighborhood. Using what they understand to be street slang, they struggle to fit in. This situation is ripe for comedy and confusion as they collide with their own misconceptions of, and growing familiarity, with the language. Ultimately they succeed in their original endeavor, but one person crosses the line and causes new anxiety and fear in the group.
