Major characters struggle with homosexuality, drug abuse, abortion and the job of leading a flock congregants to the light of God. The major characters include Rev, Doc Franklin pastor of White Rock Missionary Baptist Church, He who tries to steer a rocky ship in the name of God. First lady Correta Franklin tries to manage a opiod addiction, Abel. Franklin. oldest child of pastor and first lady struggles with his gay desires, Martha Franklin. daughter of pastor and first lady is left with a life or death dilemma. Deacon Jackson who is in charge of church finances develops sticky fingers to feed a crack addiction. Wayne minister of music and choir director is just a plain messy church queen. Rev Simmons assistant pastor to Rev. Jenkins pastors one of their sister churches New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Finally Silk. a secular music producer and agent chasing Abel to be his next music superstar.
